LEGAL CONSULTANT

You will be located at the global headquarters of Safmarine in Antwerp and, reporting to the Director of the Group's Legal Services, provide legal advice and manage files mainly related to maritime, transport and contract law.


Your tasks :
• Provide legal advice on a wide array of business matters regarding the implementation of commercial transactions including drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts.
• Manage and follow-up cargo claim and maritime law related files.
• Manage litigations and closely follow up court procedures in cooperation with the appointed law firm.
• Provide advice on Belgian company law.
• Act as a contact person for the various departments within the Safmarine organisation worldwide regarding legal advice, procedures, negotiations, contracts.


Your profile :
• Master in Law, preferably completed with a specialisation maritime law / maritime sciences.
• A minimum of 1 (one) year’s experience in the above referred branches of the law at the bar or having gained relevant experience with court procedures in a corporate environment.
• Fluent in Dutch, English and French.
• Combine strong legal technical and advisory skills with a clear ability to provide the relevant business insights from a legal point of view with a proactive, solution driven and resilient attitude.
• Have a multicultural, stress-resistant personality together with a diplomatic, persuasive communication at all levels, achieving credibility and results as a professional expert and team player.
• A keen interest in relevant topics for both international maritime / contract law and the shipping industry will also be an important driver.
