Job Description:

For one of their major customers (governmental project management company based in Edinburgh, UK), our client is looking for a long term partnership:

1. you will be responsible for the day-to-day 2nd level support tasks for their client’s complete IT infrastructure (client, server and network management). These operational tasks are done from the remote management center in Brussels.

2. you will be participating in all on-site IT infrastructure related projects, e.g. client rollout project, migrations, consolidations, upgrades, infrastructure improvements, new remote sites, etc.

You will work in a dynamic team where personal input, personal development and initiative are really appreciated (e.g. tasks, knowledge, project responsibilities, etc. are shared in the complete team).

The job will be performed at our client’s remote managed services centre in Brussels (Evere) and on-site at the customer premises in Edinburgh, UK (in average max. 1 week per month).


Day-to-day job content:

• Level 2 support tasks (troubleshooting) on the complete IT infrastructure (incl. clients, servers and network). The products to be supported are all Microsoft infrastructure products (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, ISA Server, Sharepoint, Office Communications Server, DNS, DHCP, …), Cisco and Extreme network switches, Juniper Firewalls, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Equitrac Printserver, Webservers, VMware Virtual Infrastructure, HP Bladecenter, HP EVA & MSA SAN, etc.
• User administration, backup job administration, reporting, etc. You will have full responsibility and ownership for streamlining the procedures and processes together with the customer.
• Preparing and participating in all sorts of IT infrastructure projects (e.g. improvements, upgrades, migrations, new product introductions, DR tests, etc.)
• You will participate in an on-duty schedule for escalations of issues out-of-hours.
• You will be coached and supported by a 3rd level specialist.





Required Experience

Soft skills:

• You are a quick learner and have common sense;
• You have a high drive, much energy and self motivated;
• You are eager to learn and improve your own skills;
• You have great attention for details;
• You are service oriented and customer oriented;
• You have good communication (also toward end-users) and presentation skills;
• You are a team player, but who can also work independent (you can lead and manage yourself, you have the ability to prioritise your work yourself);
• You speak Dutch, English and preferably French;
• You have working experience in a process driven environment (e.g. ITIL);
• You are flexible (e.g. sometimes perform tasks out of hours, etc;)
• You are pro-active (e.g. propose improvements, both technical and non-technical, recognize ‘single points of failure’ and potential risks, etc;)
• You are stress resistant.

Technical skills:

• Very good knowledge on Microsoft infrastructure products (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, Windows clients and servers, etc;)
• Good skills and administration knowledge on backup products (e.g. BackupExec), Microsoft Sharepoint, VMware Virtual Infrastructure, networking (TCP/IP, routing & switching), firewalls, etc;
• You are an excellent trouble-shooter (analysing, making logical conclusions, root cause detection, proposing interim workarounds, etc.)
• You have at least 3 years of professional working experience in a similar position

Our client is thus looking for an all-round profile with excellent knowledge of Microsoft techniques related to servers & networking.
